Firefox 4 seems to work good with Win XP3, but leaves lots of DMP files.
Firefox4 does not crash with Win XP SP3, but I'm getting lots of DMP files when I go to clean up.

Is anything else creating these, or are they within the firefox profile or for some other reason apparently related to firefox. (? do Plugin Container crashes generate dmp files ?)
I do not have answers, but although I do have Firefox 4 on an XP sp3 I am not noticing lots of .dmp files.
They are all in Documents and Settings\Mike\ApplicationData\Mozilla\Firefox\CrashReports\pending. I see no visible evidence of crashing when I use the browser.
I have this exact same problem. Firefox 4, Windows XP SP3, Firefox has yet to crash and my Mozilla\Firefox\CrashReports\pending folder fills up with .dmp files(and something called .extra files) and the rate of about one per every minute I am using Firefox. Any idea what is causing this or how I can stop it? Thanks
You can open the .extra files with a text editor to see the details of the crash associated with each dump file.
I am not sure why you should get crash details, yet not see a crash.
You should however be able to obtaain crash signatures, that is possible even if Firefox will no longer work, as any alternative working browser may be used to obtain the crash signature. See firefox crashes
I took cor-el's advice and read some of the .extra files and the culprit seemed to be the npmozax.dll file in every case. I disabled the "Mozilla ActiveX control and plugin support 1.0.0.4" plugin and (so far) and yet to see a .dmp or .extra file in my pending folder so hopefully this solved the problem, thanks to all for the help.
You're welcome

Thank you.
There was a crash in Firefox 5.0.1. It created the .dmp files in the pending folder. Can any one tell me how to read these .dmp files in Mac 10.6.8?
I am not a Mac user but would imagine much as in Windows a text editor will open them, although you may need to rename/copy them so that they have a suitable file extension i.e. name them so they end with .txt
Reading the files with a text editor may give you some clues. Note firefox generates the files with a facility to then generate crash ID & signatures.
