I had been using Firefox 3.x for some time. The nagging for an upgrade got worse and finally I upgraded to Firefox 4.x. Then lo and behold, the very next restart Yahoo Messenger quit working. The ONLY upgrade or install I made was Firefox. I had been forced to stay with Yahoo Messenger 9.x as version 10 does not work with Windows 2000. What happened?

OK, Cancel that. If any one else has this problem, try reinstalling Yahoo Messenger. I re-downloaded version 9 from: http://www.oldversion.com/Yahoo_Messenger.html It took two tries with removal and rebooting thrown into the process, but it seems to be working. Strange that an upgrade to Firefox seems to be the cause!

Lesson to be learned here, PLEASE CONTINUE SUPPORT for older versions of Windows. Yahoo didn't. Firefox can!
