I'm trying to upgrade to Firefox 4. My mac is running 10.5.8 When I drag the Fox icon to applications, first it says "do you want to replace the existing program?" and when I click continue, a window comes up that says " you do not have sufficient priviledges for some of the ?content?" I can't do this and check the exact wordage. I'm the admin on this computer and everything else is working normally. What gives?

If you get an error message that you do not have sufficient permissions or if you have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded
