Try using F5 to reload the page.

I've tried control-r and f5 no reload

Pressing F5 certainly refreshed the page. However I do not have a refresh button since I upgraded to Firefox V6.0.1. Cant find anywhere in the toolbars to put it on. Any help would be appreciated

Firefox 4 and later use a combined Stop/Reload/Go button that is positioned at the right end of the location bar.
During the page load process it shows as a Stop button and after the loading has finished the button is changed to a Reload button.
If you type in the location bar then that button becomes a Go button.
Middle-click the Reload button to duplicate the current tab to a new tab.

Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize"
If the menu bar is hidden on Windows or Linux then use "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"

If you do not see that button then click the "Restore Default Set" button in the Customize window.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
