Recently I am not being asked if I want to seve the tabs within ff when closing the browser.

Also, when launching ff it forgets the browswer tabs

And finally (most annoying), ff opens 8 instances upon launching.

How do I get my old (working) ff back?

I tried un-installing ff and re-installing ff and that didn't help.

Thanks,

Kevin

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

Delete the files sessionstore.js [2] and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.

If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well. Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).

Your instructions worked, thanks. One thing though I had to repeat it 5 times as the instances decreased from 8 to 5 to 4 to 3 to 2 and then to 1.

Thank you so much!

I am having this problem too. I'm not that computer savvy but managed to follow the instructions above and this is what happened when I clicked on sessionstore.js - see attached file.

Not sure what to do now.

You do not have to (double) click that file because that will run the Windows JScript program with that file and that program can't handle such .js files from Firefox.

You can move the file(s) to another location or delete the file(s) sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak

Everything seems OK this time I logged in. It gave me the option in History to restore my previous session which wasn't working previously.

Thanks.

The same problem came back today and after previously fixing the problem I wasn't asked if I wanted to save tabs for next session upon exiting ff. Consequently, when opening up ff all tabs were lost.

What do you believe I should do to make this a permanent fix and with tab remembrance in place?

Thanks,

Kevin

It's amazing. Now every day I open firefox I get more windows (It's like a virus). I'm up to 18 of them now. Wish I could un-install firefox without losing my bookmarks and then re-install and all is back to the way it used to be ...

I uninstalled FF (all of it) and deleted the mozilla folder after backing up bookmarks. All is fine so far.

Thanks,

Kevin
