Two items are causing many Firefox 8 crashes:

  • Roboform older versions. You can try to update Roboform to see if that solves the crashing problem: http://www.roboform.com/platforms/browsers/firefox
    • See --> bug 691271 (RESOLVED WORKSFORME Crash mainly close to startup in [@ DebugBreak ] [@ DbgBreakPoint ] with Roboform)
  • Trusteer Rapport
    • Windows: Start > All Programs > Trusteer Rapport > Stop Rapport
    • Mac: System Preferences > Other > Rapport > Stop Rapport"

Solved it. I had Roboform 5.6.1, and installing 5.6.3 fixed it, for the moment. Am still in Safe Mode, so it may not be final
