why does firefox utilize remote instances over the X protocol?
when starting firefox under X on one machine, if there's other X client firefox running on a different machine, reachable via the X protocol, that remote client will be used instead.
My questions are:
- what is a scenario where this feature is really nice? (I can give several where it's a hassle)
- how can I configure it out permanently?

Oh, my troubleshooting entry was not displayed. I need to point out that I use --no-remote. But it doesn't always work:
- firefox running on host A
- firefox running on host B
- click on the tutorial button in netbeans on host A
A tab is opened on the remote host B rather than on host A!
