The Manage Search Engine List has an option to remove an entry, however when I remove About.com, it is back the next day. How do I permanently listing from this list?

Removing a search engine 1. Click the search engine icon and select Manage Search Engines..., to open the Search Engines Manager. 2. To remove a search engine, select it from the list, and click Remove.

Doing the above dose removed the selected entry (about.com). However the next time I start the computer About.com is back on the list.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
