After a crash last weekend, and after Dell restored & wiped out the computer to original specs & settings, I am trying to get back the Firefox bookmarks for all 3 users on this desktop computer. Carbonite has finished restoring my data (I think). I have tried doing the Firefox Bookmarks-Import-etc. restore route, but all I can get is either bookmarks from 2009, or from a day AFTER the crash. Both of these are useless. Where, oh where are the useful recent bookmarks? None of the "blog" help that I can find makes sense to me, or is just irrelevant.

Thank you.

From the little bit of reading I did about Carbonite, your Firefox Profile data should have been included in the backup with default settings in Carbonite - all except for the Firefox cache. You need to locate the old Profile folders in the backup and then copy specific file from the old Profile into the new Profile, replacing the corresponding files in the new Profile.

Your old Profile is located here in Vista & Win7:
drive:\Users\Windows login user name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\profile_name

Thank you. It turns out that a long (1-1/2 hr) phone call with a Carbonite tech support person unwound the whole thing. Many of the files were the hidden type, so even if I knew what I was doing, I couldn't find the right folders in the first place. Still makes me shudder.
