after entering a website in the google box, instead of going to that website as I have in the past, I get something called "jump" which seems to bring me to ads not the website that I want.

today, every time that I have put in the website name of my local library, which I have successfully done as recently as yesterday, I get something called "jump" which seems to take me to ads and/or other websites which are not the local library. When I use the search box at the top of the screen, not the Google box at the top right of the screen, and put in the actual website name with ".org" at the end I am correctly taken to the proper website. Using either of the google boxes, either the one at the top right or the larger one which appears in the middle of the screen, gets me to "jump" not to the website of the library. I have been using either of the Google boxes, by entering just the name of the library, for two or three years with no problems. I have never seen the "jump" name appear after a google search before today; and use one or the other of the google search boxes routinely for almost all of my searches even if it is to an often used website such as that of the library. Is this a problem with my PC or Google, or something else?

Thanks for your help.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.
