The internet speed have gone down from 14Mb to 0.5Mb on Mozilla and Chrome but is 14Mb on Explorer??? Can't see on Youtube in Mozilla, Explorer no problems. Why? What is blocking the internet speed. Tried to uninstall and remove plug ins, update plug ins. Nothing helps.

How are you checking your Internet speed?

Only Mozilla running and a program we have here in Sweden, it is from a department that works with Internet Infrastructure, I just start a program from there internet page opened in Mozilla. It checks sent and recieved signals. For Explorer there is no problems when I do the same test.??

That is definitively strange. Can you access http://www.speedtest.net on each browser and let me know the results?

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

Some can use excessive scanning of content that slows down your connection speed significantly.

This is really wierd. I haven't logged into my computer for 2 days due to problems with the password. I did a reset to an earlier date when I did know I din't have this problem. Did check the speed after this but no changes. Got the password resetted by the support were I bought the computer. When I am checking the speed with Speedtest I have suddenly 8.5Mb on Mozilla and Explorer??? This morning, local Swedish time, I did change the cable between the router and computer I have suddenly 12.8Mb on Mozilla and Explorer??? The only difference I can see is that the old connectors are yellow and the new are red!!! So now it works fine but I haven't done anything, very strange.

I hate computers ;-)

Thank you all for all the help and support during my difficult time, hehe

regards Peo F

I could be a happy guy for approx 4 days. Now is this problem back?? made a speedtest this morning, Mozilla 0,77Mb and Explorer 8,8Mb. Must be something inside Mozilla that blocks the signal, that's the only reason I can see. Can look at Youtube in Explorer without any problems, the same in Mozilla locks the computer completely.

You didn't answer cor-el about security software.

You reset to an earlier date and then maybe your security suite was re-updated and the "fault" reappears?? Or maybe a plugin was re-updated??

Speed tests are usually run using plugins, like Flash or Java. Your security software may be affecting the plugin-container in Firefox or affecting the plugin "sandbox" in Flash.

The software for antivirus is from Telia and it is also my supplier of the internetconnection . Can not find any virus or some strange programs during the advanced search of the computer. I have just tried to start Mozilla in fail safe mode, no difference in speed.

The computer is only approx 3 months old.

From my experience, Firfox works bad on Vista. but it has nothing to do with speed.

If you have no issues with security (viruses, bugs, worms or something else), if you have latest updates and your hardware is working perfectly, if you have no firewall on any of Mozilla plugins or features,

please follow these steps:

Uninstall Firefox completely (with Data and all information). You will lose bookmarks or any saved data from Firefox (and settings). wait 24 hours reinstall by downloading a new file from www.mozilla.org

Regards.

I will try this and see what happens.
