I'm trying to import bookmarks from my Safari 5.1.7 to Firefox 18.0 within my Mac OS X 10.6.8. I backed up and then deleted the out of date Firefox bookmarks (don't know where they came from when I installed Firefox last month), made an .html file from my Safari bookmarks, followed the directions herein to the letter, and the Safari bookmarks did not transfer.

Safari may be exporting the bookmarks in an HTML file format that Firefox doesn't support and have have to check and edit the file.
