My FF browser was acting weird, so I did a Reset. My entire FF Ftp program was deleted. I installed the FF Ftp addon after the Reset. I need to know how to move the fireFTPsites.dat file from the "Old Firefox Data" folder back into FF ver 26 browser. I have the latest FF version on my desktop, windows xp.

Unfortunately, I don't have a master list of my ftp client user & pws.

I'm a novice. I have read everything in the Support section and really need help on how to recover the ftp info in the Old FF Data folder, and get that FTP info usable again. Thank you.

I think you need to copy these 3 files from your old profile folder to your current one.

  • fireFTPsites.dat
  • key3.db
  • signons.sqlite

The second and third files have your saved passwords. Note that replacing your current key3.db and signons.sqlite files will replace any passwords you have saved in your active profile.

To open your currently active profile folder, you can use either:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter

Then in the first table click the "Show Folder" button. Keeping this folder open, switch back to Firefox and Exit.

Copy the 3 files from the old profile folder on your desktop into your new folder. Be careful not to copy in the other direction, for obvious reasons!

Then restart Firefox. Success?

Thank you. I copied the files noted, to the FF program files.

I am finding saved ftp passwords in the

When I open the FF FTP with: Tools > Web Developer > FireFTP

The Upper Left box, where you choose: create an account quick connect

This box is Not listing the list any of the saved ftp client info.

Should I remove the current FFftp, and re-install that addon?

OR is there a FTP folder in the Old FF Data folder, I can copy over to the current FF program folder that will connect the passwords to the FTP program?

Thank you for the link - I read it, and I am seeing the passwords in FF.

However, the FFftp program is not linking to or connecting with, nor displaying the passwords nor FTP info.

You need to copy the files to the current Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

Note that the "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K and the "AppData" folder in Windows Vista and Windows 7 and later versions are hidden folders.

Thank you everyone!

Without all of your help, I would have had to spend hours gathering all ftp client pws, and rebuild the list manually.

Lesson learned: make a master list of ftp user/pw in case of emergency.

Thanks again!
