auto updates ever since about version 15 have been overwriting my home page and other custom settings with what appear to be firefox defaults, i.e. the Mozilla home page, auto scrolling, and firefox reporting options get turned on when I had them turned off.

I appreciate the free software, but just wanted to let you know, since retaining old settings can be beneficial for many users such as myself.
