I wonder if it is possible to open images in FireFox on android?

Chrome has it and Opera has, you long press on a picture/image and you can open in a new tab. With FireFox i must longpress image >"Copy Image Location" > Open new tab > past image adress.

Am i missing something or is this a feature that is not in FireFox?

This used to be on the menu a long time ago exist, but apparently got lost when there was a major change in Firefox for Android. This the old bug that was fixed, but which got lost in the shuffle (according to the last comment): 664798 – Add "Copy email address" and "View image" (or "Copy image location") to the Fennec context menu.

I think someone needs to file a new bug (request for enhancement) to get this restored to the menu. You could refer to the old bug but since it is closed, no one is likely to pick up the ball from that one so it would be best to file a new one.

hey VSSKANAND, the question owner is using firefox on android. the extensions you've recommended are intended for the desktop version of firefox and won't automatically work on android. here is the addon section for firefox on android: https://addons.mozilla.org/android/

That did also not work same problem as before Firefox version is wrong or not supported.

Perhaps I should have specified were the problem was (android) but when starting this question I chose android part of support and I thought that it would automatically sort it to the Android part of the support forum

There is no separate Android section as Firefox for desktop, Android and the Firefox OS are all in the Questions section.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-Us/android/addon/open-image-in-new-tab/versions/

This one suggested by VSSKANAND is actually for desktop Firefox I believe even though it is in Android section for whatever reason. It is rather old now anyways. Also the Android version of Firefox starting from 4.0 to 10.0 used the XUL framework and it then changed to the current native Android UI framework from 14.0 to current. So Extensions made for mobile Firefox versions before 14.0 will not work.

I made a bug request so i will have to see how that goes
