Loads for me. I don't understand why it would be related to that other site. Can you think of any reason?

To test how the site works in Firefox without customizations, could you do a two-minute experiment?

Create a new Firefox profile

A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.

Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):

firefox.exe -P

Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.

You'll click the Create Profile button. I recommend using the default location suggested (in other words, don't click the button to choose a different folder). Then start Firefox in the new profile you created.

Does the site load?

When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.

Thank you jscher 2000 for you response

I guess I haven't explained the problem correctly. On the horseshoepitching.com site under NHPA select charter links then click on Kansas and then Topeka and the error occurs. Other folks tell me they get the same error buy going through google or yahoo when they enter topekahorseshoe.com

I have talked to the webmaster for the NHPA and he says they have the link set correctly at topekahorseshoe.com/ They suggested it would need to be corrected by google and yahoo and who ever else has a browser that someone might use. ?? I don't get it.

Thank you again for any help on this,

Terry

I see, the link to Topeka on this page: http://www.horseshoepitching.com/links/KSinf.html

Could you try a couple of alternate methods:

  • Middle-click the link using the mouse scroll wheel (should open in a new tab)
  • Right-click the link > Open Link in New Tab

Do either of those work?

I tried it both ways and my results are just the same:

Not Found

The requested URL /r/globalconferencemanagementgroup/hcwf.html was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Apache Server at globalconferencemanagementgroup.com Port 80

Some how topekahorseshoe.com is being taken over by: globalconferencemanagementgroup.com

Thanks for trying to help. People keep telling me it is a hosting server issue... what do you think?

I followed your instructions and my antivirus picked it up as malware and refused to load.

Jscher2000, any insight on this?

One possibility is that you're getting a hacked version of the page. When you hover over the link, is Firefox showing that the address of the link is correct, or does it show that suspect site?

If the address is correct, another possibility is that your computer or router is hacked. It would be odd if it only affects this one site, however. Still, you should check all your connection and DNS settings.

A third possibility is a problem on your server. Some hacks change the .htaccess file to redirect randomly, in other cases some kind of process may be running. A good site to get help with that is one of Google's forums:

When i hover over the link it is correct except for the fact that at the ending should be .com/ and it shows .com I never see: globalconferencemanagementgroup.com until after I click on the blue topeka.

Also the comment that was made about not being able to click on the link because it showed having malware present. Would that be at the NHPA site or the topeka horse shoe site?

Another question is on your frequent asked questions it says when responding please put spaces in your url, so I assume I should put topeka horse shoe . com/ and everyone would know to link them.

Thank you

That malware screenshot I posted was for the http://www.globalconferencemanagementgroup.com/ which you said is somehow being taken over from topekahorseshoe.com

Another question is on your frequent asked questions it says when responding please put spaces in your url, so I assume I should put topeka horse shoe . com/ and everyone would know to link them.

What frequently asked question are you referring to? Did you see it on this site?

Might actually be the problem here. When I click topekahorseshow.com and follow your process, it redirects me to that globalconferencemanagementgroup.com

Keep in mind that posts in this forum are crawled, indexed and will be shown in search results. If you don’t want your topic appearing in search results when people search for your website or business name, please use a URL shortening service to mask your website's URL.

I have never used nor know how to use a URL shortening service to mask my website. This was good info but I couldn't resolve my problem. Hope that helps

This looks like a problem with a hacked server and the referrer.
If I disable the referrer then the link works correctly.
If I set the link on an empty page and force the referrer to http://www.horseshoepitching.com/links/KSinf.html then I get redirected.
