I have blocked popups. They now seem to bypass the block by opening new instances of Fifefox. I never use more than one instance, I just use multiple tabs. How can I prevent multiple instances of Firefox? [I have explained this as best as I can].

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer. Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

Perhaps I was unclear. Unscrupulous advertisers and others used to use popups, which I can deal with. Now they open a new instance of Firefox. I can find no way to stop this.

That's what pop-ups do.
