I just installed a brand new PC running windows 7 pro. After completing the setup and upon trying to install Firefox the installation finishes but when it tries to open firefox it immediately crashes. I rebooted and allowed all pending updates to be installed and configured and after logging back in I still get the same error. I have tried numerous clean installs both before updates and after but still am unable to launch firefox. The only logs I can find have a crash ID (the most recent one was bp-4f2f80c0-77de-486c-9ea1-3bf3a2150123). What is causing the issue and what do I need to do to fix it?

That looks like a problem with the graphics display driver.

Make sure that you have the latest driver for your graphics display.

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
