I have 2 questions,

I do not have a clue what a thread, to me threads are something you sew with.

I hate attachments if I am the one who has to open them. Is there an opening all attachments at once or as a slide show? I got 36 photos in my e-mail as attachments today......36!

Threading is a way to group connected messages to show the conversation. It will group emails and replies and/or similar subjects.

Slideshows? Thunderbird is an email client not a picture viewer. So No. Select them all and save them somewhere. Then use an image viewer of your choosing.
