Why is firefox not displaying sites properly in Windows 10?

more options

Websites are not displaying properly in Firefox. The same sites on the same computer display fine in Edge and Chrome.

I am also having and issue were scripts are constantly failing on websites, causing them to become slow and unresponsive.

Could you be a little more specific about how websites look wrong? For example:

  • some elements of the page are missing/broken
  • some fonts look terrible
  • no layout at all, unstyled blue links, text down the left side

Specific examples also can be helpful.

Regarding unresponsive script errors, you might already have seen our article here: Warning Unresponsive script - What it means and how to fix it.

Another common cause of unresponsive script errors on Windows is the protected mode feature of the Flash player plugin. That feature has security benefits, but seems to have serious compatibility issues on some systems. You can disable it using the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. On the right side, find "Shockwave Flash" and click the More link. Then uncheck the box for "Enable Adobe Flash protected mode" and try that for a day to see whether it helps.
