My history got deleted yesterday and I don't know how? Is there anyway I can get it back?

Yesterday my Firefox history got deleted and I don't know how. I didn't notice it until today when I tried to type in a site I frequently visit. I knew this was the problem because this isn't the first time that this has happened and I couldn't get my history back then either. And it's only my history that's deleted, like my bookmarks and everything else is there. Is there anyway I can get my history back? I'd hate to have to go through all this again and not be able to get my history back.

Places Maintenance {web link} Allows to run Maintenance tasks on the database that drives Places, the bookmarks and history module behind Firefox.

Open the Add-ons Manager. Locate the add-on and press the Options button. Select All of the tests. Then press Execute on the bottom.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?

You can check in Windows Explorer if there is a previous version of the places.sqlite file available.

  • Right-click: Properties > Previous Versions

places.sqlite stores bookmarks and history including download history, so both will be restored to the restore point that you would choose.

You can backup the bookmarks to an HTML file or JSON backup to restore this afterward,
