Firefox 46.0.1 for Mac on OSX 10.10.5: Won't open websites, won't download from any website, won't show add-ons, won't download or install extensions.
This was a typical Firefox update for me, but now Firefox is not doing some essential tasks. I've downloaded (or attempted to download) files from different websites, they don't show in my download folder, and they don't show in download history.
I can open a new tab, but now it doesn't show me my past common sites, and typing in a website (even "mozilla.org") yields no action. I am missing my Evernote Web Clipper and 1Password extensions, but opening the "add-ons" tab under TOOLS shows me a blank page (but some add-ons are working, like Ebates, and Ad-Block).
I cannot add/install the missing extensions. I cannot download from any various website I've tried. The program asks to save the download, but it doesn't show in my download folder, and it doesn't show in the history of downloads. Honestly, I think this upgrade broke a lot of essential functions!!
FYI, I'm typing this via Safari, since that lets me get work done online!!

On the sick computer;
Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;
- Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
- Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see
