How to get rid of "unable to update" error message?

more options

Every time I open Firefox, I get an error message telling me Firefox was unabe to update. However, I am running the latest version.

I've tried uninstalling and re-installing, but that didn't help either.

How do I get this error message to stop appearing?

Hmm, are you sure you have the newest version? Your Firefox identified itself as version 47 but there is a version 48 available.

As a Windows user, I'm not the best person to suggest how to bypass the update problem you're currently having, but I think it involves (i) downloading the latest Firefox, (ii) dragging the old Firefox application to the Trash (not removing your settings/personal data) and then (iii) installing the latest Firefox.
