Keyboard stops working

more options

I am running Ubuntu Studio since a couple of years. For about two years my keyboard randomly stops working in two applications; Mozilla Thunderbird and Mozilla Firefox. When it stops working I can restart the application to get it working.

In Thunderbird I can also create two new emails (without sending them) and that will also solve the problem, temporarily.

After "a while" the keyboard stops working. There is not relation between Thunderbird and Firefox (they are running simultaneously).

Here is some data about my system Linux mediaserver 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.84-1 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Any help is appreciated. I can handle it but the rest of my family is dumbstruck when it happens.

Hi

Thank you for your question. I have looked into this and having a number of pointers that may help.

This article has some good general guidance that may help.

You may want to consider moving to a Mozilla build of Firefox. If you do, make sure you capture and carry across your profile. You can read more about this here.

You should also think about making sure your copy of Flash is up to date. I use Ubuntu myself and recently had the update from Ubuntu Software.

I hope that this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look into a different solution for you.

Thanks, However, since I have very similar problems in Firefox and Thunderbird I fail to see that any of this would help. The article you linked to refer to when Firefox hangs, which never happens to me. Does Flash have anything to do with the internal functions of Firefox? I didn't think so, even if your answer seems to imply that.
