Just yesterday I upgraded the memory in my computer (RAM) from 8GB to 16GB. Ever since I've upgrade the memory Firefox has started crashing big time for no apparent reason. I could be doing nothing, sitting with a new tab open, and it will crash. Watching with Task Manager open doesn't show that it would be eating too much memory as it has crashed with only using 330MB of memory or sometimes over 700MB. I've disabled and removed 90% of the add-ons that I never even used, save for Ad-Block Plus, a Firefox Theme (it still happens when this is just disabled), and FVD Speed dial. I don't understand why this has just started happening after the memory upgrade as this never happened when I was just sitting at 8GB of memory.

Sounds like mis-matched memory sticks. Been a few years since I ran into that, but I have seen similar a few times over the years.

All new memory sticks? Or did you add 8GB to the existing 8GB, to get to 16GB? If so, is it all the same part number / manufacturer so that it is "matched"?

Might be a good idea for us to review your Crash Reports.

Please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

The memory sticks were bought in a 2 pack (2x8GB sticks). Here are the last 5 crash logs.
