I know how to change the reader for PDF files to open with Adobe, but Firefox changes it back to the Firefox reader and I have to change it back to Adobe all the time. Why can't Firefox just KEEP my preference for Adobe????

Not completely sure but firefox might not come with a built in pdf viewer anymore. You might also want to update to 54

Firefox DOES come with a builtin Firefox pdf viewer. I don't like it or want to use it. I want to use Adobe. You are right, I didn't realize that I hadn't updated to version 54 and I did update per your suggestion. This time when I launched Firefox it did retain my preferred pdf viewer as Adobe. Thanks for your suggestions.
