Since recent updates very little works on my Firefox. The 3 bar menu opens but does NOT let me click anything, not even customise! The download progress and arrow have disappeared and there is an extremely annoying 'search with Google' that pops up when I search and it blocks my view of my history! (I HATE GOOGLE and BING etc and want to ONLY use the search engine I CHOOSE, not one someone else chooses for me.) The download problem is urgent as I have extremely important documents to download and while I can find some of them in other ways, others I can not access! What is happening to Firefox? It used to be good.

Do a clean reinstall of the current Firefox release and delete the Firefox program folder before installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.

If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows Registry and settings in security software.

  • do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall the current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

  • (64-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
  • (32-bit Firefox) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"

Your personal data like bookmarks is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose personal data when you uninstall and reinstall or update Firefox, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

If you keep having problems then you can create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer. I did all that, but while my download had returned, and this was the most important, the 3bar menu is still not clickable. Any ideas on that? And again, thanks for your time and help.

Update AGAIN. i repeated it all a second time and now download is there and working and the menu too. Hopefully it will stay this time, but I used download 3 or 4 times and it is still there. Thanks again and sorry for all the messages but I need the download for urgent health issues so it is very important.
