Local Folder Name Prevents Copying To It
I am a Thunderbird newbie.
I had two Local Folders, InboxHistory and OldCTBirds. I tried to Copy messages from IMAP folders to OldCTBirds. Nothing ever appeard in OldCTBirds. I had no problem Copying messages to InboxHistory. I tried deleting the OldCTBirds local folder, then creating a new local folder with the same name. It was still impossible to Copy messages from an IMAP folder to the local folder OldCTBirds.
I renamed the local folder OldCTBirds to CTBirds. It moved up in the list, in front of InboxHistory. After THAT change I can now copy to that local folder from an IMAP folder. When I renamed it again, back to the name that didn't work (OldCTBirds), Copy stopped working again. Rename it back to CTBirds, it works again.
I am confused. While it looks like a bug, I am a Thunderbird newbie, so I may have missed something.

I am not clear whether you are doing this within Thunderbird, as mail-related objects, or in your file manager as file or folder objects.
As given here, there is nothing controversial about your file names. You may have problems if there are forbidden characters such as as asterisks or slashes, and you will have problems if you have two files or folders with the same name but in different cases. For instance, Windows sees My Files and my files as interchangeable. If you had my files and wanted to change it to My Files, you'd need to go through an intermediate state where another character would make it unmistakably different from either the first or second versions of the name. e.g.
- my files
- my_files
- My Files
On the face of it, none of this applies to your OldCTBirds.
Thanks for your response. Sorry if I was unclear, this was 100% within Thunderbird. There were no special characters in any of the names. I have not yet looked in any of the Windows folders used by Thunderbird. I will dig into that later looking for what files there are that might cause conflicts.
