The basics of facebook aren't that difficult and seems to be well within the scope of mozillas capabilities. Would it be possible for you to create such a app the doesn't rely on selling users personal information yet allow them to exchange information. photos, etc? Funding could be sourced by donations from individuals and corporations who use the service.
