Hello, I haven't received any emails to thunderbird/icedove on my desktop for a few months. When attempting to retrieve emails the error message is "Could not connect to mail server imap.gmail.com; the connection was refused." When attempting to send it is "Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because the connecting to the Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.gmail.com failed. The server may be unavailable or refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again."

I have tried disabling add-ons, running thunderbird in safe-mode, and reinstalling thunderbird with no success.

As in the title, I am running Debian Stretch. Also, thunderbird works fine on my phone and on a Windows PC.

Can you confirm that IMAP is enabled in the settings within Gmail?

In Gmail, click the Settings icon and navigate to the Forwarding & POP/IMAP tab.
