I'm trying to add a new address book. Usual procedure no longer seems to work. About 35 existing, successful address books appear as sub units under "All Address Books." These are working well. When I try to add new address book using "New List" under "All Address Books" the new list appears as sub unit of "Personal Address Books."

If you want to add an address book do not add new list. Mailing lists are just that. A grouping of contacts contained in an existing address book. Open the address book window and select... File-New-Address Book

The All Book listing is just a virtual list of any address books you have added. It is not a real book or are address books sub unit of that virtual listing.

Guess I am somewhat dense, but my screen does not give me the option of making the selections you present. "Open the address book window and select... File-New-Address Book" is not an option presented to me when I select "File-New." There is no "Address Book" offered as a choice. Can you help me any further. Thanks for your efforts in my behalf. Tom.

Maybe you are missing the Menu Bar in the Address Book window. Press the alt key if you do not see a Menu Bar at the top of the Address Book window. Then click View-Toolbars and turn it back on. See image for the File-New-Address Book choice.

The menu bar appears correctly, but, when I press File-New, I am presented with these choices: "Message-Event-Task-Folder-Saved Search-Get a New Mail Account-Existing Mail Account-Chat Account-Feed Account-Other Accounts-Calendar-Address Book Contact-Chat Contact." Surely I am missing something; I just don't know what I am missing. Sorry to be so much trouble. Can you get me to the next step? Thanks. Tom.

You have to use the Menu Bar in the window you are trying to work with. you cannot just find a random Menu Bar and expect it to work. The menu choices you list are from the Menu Bar in the main window. you are going to have a long day if you continue to tey and use that one.

Open an Address book window. Do you have a Menu Bar IN THAT window? if not please follow the instructions that i already provided to get one and then use the menu bar in that window.

Thanks very much for your help and, again, sorry to have been so much trouble. Old age is my only excuse. Tom.

Are either of you able to finish this topic? I'm having the same problem and I'm waiting for you to conclude your discussion. "Old age" is not an option!

The OP didn't get an answer and made a humble exit with an apology. The topic still deserves an answer, so I'll start another thread (but please don't respond to it - I don't wish for a similar experience :-)

I guess you missed the part where they were using New Mailing List when trying to add a new address book.

But no worries, I keep list people to not to attempt to help. I will gladly add your username.
