Hi _ I love Thunderbird!! But I'm finding if I delete a message from my iphone ( which I need to do as it gets too full) then the message is deleting from my PC as well-- so I have deleted a whole load of important stuff thinking it was safe in my PC.. how can I stop this happening - the iphone also deletes from the server even though I have said never delete from server in settings - and I have disabled icloud as well.

If the account is set up as IMAP on the phone, which is the standard setup, then any message deleted from the phone is deleted from the mail server, which means it's unavailable to the PC. You should probably have the account as IMAP on all devices, but in TB, copy older mail to Local Folders, confirm the copy, then delete from the Inbox. Also, most mobile mail apps have a setting to store only the last 7 or 14 days of mail on the device, instead of the complete set of IMAP folders.
