I am running with firefox 79.0 and am using ubuntu 18.04

I have been using google hangouts for some time with no problems but, now, it will no longer work. It tells me that I have a problem with my camera/video and to check my network. My network is dandy. The only thing I could think of is that its a firefox problem. To check that I brought up google chrome and tried hangouts there and it worked just fine.

I have searched for a solution and found none although there has been an ongoing problem with hangouts for some time.. I suspect that some of the stuff that has been added to firefox to be the culprit but am not sure - hence this.

If anybody has a clue please let me know - thank you!

I have solved the problem. I use a VPN (PIA) For the heck of it I thought I would turn it off and try again. When I did that I could run hangouts with no problem. So, firefox had a problem with the vpn. I can live with this.

thank you...............
