How to sort messages according to TWO (or more) criteria ?

Hello everybody.

I think that the title of the subject is self-explanatory. I would appreciate to be able to sort incoming messages according the following 2 criteria : 1) sort by "read / unread" 2) AND (after) by date (received). That means that unread messages should ALWAYS be on top of the list, not depending of the message date, until the message is read. And once being read, the read messages should sorted automatically by date like any other read messages.

I found a trick for the two successive sorts : 1) first tick the "date" sort 2) and immediately after tick the "read / unread" sort.

That works, but unfortunately the sorting is not updated in "real time". I mean that once read, the read message is not automatically sorted and moved according to my request.

Please see my 2 screenshots.

Does anyone have any solution ? ...or is it possible to implement this function in next Thunderbird version ???

Thanks a lot.

PS : just find that it seems that "automatic" updating sorting messages seems to work while switching from a folder to another, without quitting thunderbird ! i.e. : I tested that function when switching from "incoming message" to "send"...

sorry for the inconvenience.
