How do I change new settings to be the default in Thunderbird?
My has husband has failing eyesight and has given up writing e-mails, primarily because he can't see what he is typing. I have gone to the setting options and changed the font to Arial Rounded and text size to huge and clicked ont the bold text button. However, the changes only last as long as it takes to write and send the e-mail. When he goes back to his Thunderbird program, all those changes have disappeared. How can I set them all to be the default settings in his Thunderbird program? Thanks for any help. --Myra

Options/General/Language & Appearance/Fonts & Colors/Advanced (Tools/Options/Display/Fonts & Colors/Advanced in TB 68), set the fonts and sizes for Fonts for: Latin and repeat with Fonts for: Other Writing Systems. Uncheck 'Allow messages to use other fonts'.
To increase the fonts for menus and panes, see this post about changing a preference in Config. editor.

Thank you so much. It works and my husband is thrilled to have one of his favorite occupations back again.
Hello,
Ever since a recent update, I am no longer able to permanently set my font size in both incoming or outgoing e-mail messages. Instead I have to increase the font size with each and every message. I used to set the size once, and it simply stayed the same after that. Why am I no longer able to do that? And is there another method I can use to make it work as it used to?
I tried the solution you have given here. It didn't work for me. Right now I am using Thunderbird 78.6.1.
Thank you for any and all information you might be able to give me to help with this problem.
Cordially, Sandie Lynne
