Hi ruana.m7, sorry to hear about this problem.

How long have you been running Firefox on your system?

Firefox Version

I notice your Firefox identified itself as version 78.0. This could mean any of the following. Do you know which one it is?

  • You have never updated from Firefox 78.0
  • You are running the "Extended Support Release" of Firefox 78 and you are getting updates in that series
  • You are running Firefox 83.0 but you use the privacy.resistFingerprinting setting which overrides your version identification

To get a clearer picture, you could look at the version on the Troubleshooting Information page. Either

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • (menu bar) Help > Troubleshooting Information
  • type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the first table on the page, there should be a row for Version. What does yours say?

Profiles Folder Contents

Firefox data is stored in profile folders under a hidden path. On the Troubleshooting Information page, there's a row in the first table for Profile Folder. The location should be something along the lines of the following, where the last part varies:

[Library]/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/abcd1234.default-release

Click the "Show in Finder" button on that row and take a look at the contents of the Profiles folder. How many different folders do you find here?
