Pop up ad causes site to freeze

more options

There's a problem with the site filmcomment.com that only happens on Firefox and not other browsers. As of today, when I load the site an ad pops up for a newsletter. I click the X and the text of the ad goes away, but the screen remains dark and the site is unusable. I have turned off all ad blocking for this site and have tried clearing cookies.

When I click the X, this error appears in the Web Console ([MDN https://developer.mozilla.org/docs/Tools/Web_Console]):

Uncaught Error: `expires` parameter cannot be converted to a valid Date instance

I don't know what that error message refers to, but perhaps a cookie expiration? Maybe a Firefox cookie restriction is kicking in there?
