Less secure apps
Will the access to Thunderbird 91 be lost/changed because of their statement:-
"On 30 May, you may lose access to apps that are using less secure sign-in technology.
To help keep your account secure, Google will no longer support the use of third-party apps or devices which ask you to sign in to your Google Account using only your username and password. Instead, you’ll need to sign in using Sign in with Google or other more secure technologies, like OAuth 2.0.
What do you need to do?
Email software, like Outlook 2016 or earlier, has less secure access to your Gmail. Switch to Office 365, Outlook 2019 or newer, or any other email software where you can sign in using Sign in with Google."
I am 77years old and would like to receive assurances that I can continue using Thunderbird without any unnecessary hassle. For your information I use MailWasher Pro to filter out any unwanted or dodgy mails and the ones I keep are then sent to Thunderbird.

Go to account setting on the menu and open your account settings.
Then select the server settings for the account you wish to change.
Change the Authentication method using the drop down to oAuth like shown below
Follow that up by selecting the outgoing server SMTP entry on the accounts list.
This will display all configured SMTP servers something like this.
Select your outgoing server, press the edit button on the right. Then edit your authentication to oAuth as shown in the image.
Do I also change pop.gmail.com using the POP Mail Server to OAuth2 as well?
It matters not a fig what any part of the dialog has, and for this the server name only serves to proof the account is using a google mail server. The only thing you are changing is the authentication method for all gmail accounts to oAuth2.0.
So Yes.
Thank you very much for your help. Thunderbird is now working with new security setup. All I need now is a response from Firetrust regarding Mailwasher Pro.
