Hello, I changed my Firefox Primary Password yesterday WHILE USING MY SECONDARY PC (as i thought my main PC was stolen).

I found my main PC today (it was not stolen). When i try to log-in it still wants me to use my old Primary password, and it is now requiring a verification code, every time I log into Firefox.

  - I cannot log-in to the Firefox account on the main computer by using my new primary password
        - but I can still log-in by using my old primary password + verification code

I can log-in the Firefox account on the secondary computer normally (by using my newly changed password) and I do not need to enter a verification code.

The log-in email address is the same on both computers.

The sync function is still working between the 2 PC's

I am very confused now, and I need to have the Firefox Primary password the same on both computers.

Your help resolving this issue will be greatly appreciated.

Thank-you, Geoff Parmelee [Email address] [Telephone number]

Hi Geoff

I have removed your email address and phone number from your question for your privacy and security as this is an open forum.

The credentials for your Firefox Account will be the same across devices, but a Primary Password is per device.

This support article should help you to change a primary password:

The Primary Password is only used locally to encrypt the logins stored in the Password Manager (about:logins) and and never leaves your computer and isn't part of Sync. So each computer has its own Primary Password and this doesn't need to be the same PP on all devices. Sync uses an encryption key derived from the password of the Sync account and this password should be a different password.
