Thunderbird compatibility with platforms that do not support "Basic Authentication"
Microsoft's Outlook Exchange mail utility has shut off POP access for email clients that utilize 'Basic Authentication." This means I can't communicate from home using Windows Live Mail or Outlook 2010 with others at my work who are all on the company's Outlook Exchange. Will the latest version of Thunderbird work for me in this regard? Thanks!

You could use oauth authentication is you are using the office365 platform. But Thunderbird oauth do9es not work with inhouse exchange servers.
BTW, just so you understand Microsoft Speak. Basic authentication is a password. Modern authentication is a Microsoft implementation of oAUth2.0

Many thanks for that, Matt. I looked up OAuth on the web; seems quite complex and more a concept than something easily implemented. I do have a temporary workaround with Webmail access to the MS account, but in the long run will probably replace my access within the company's communications structure with something other than a Microsoft account.
