Firefox4 looses all bookmarks when computer shutdown
Hi, I would like to bring serious issue with Firefoix 4. If Firefox is exited due to computer shutdown, all the bookmarks get losts. I made changes to my Bookmark toolbar, those changes are also gone. After re-start Toolbar is exactly same as before with my changes gone.
Also, after re-start, it no longer restores my previous session.
I learned it painfully and crushing myself why I updated to firefox 4. My months of bookmarks are all gone.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Your settings should be preserved during an upgrade. Before doing anything else, back up all of your profile folders to avoid losing your bookmark backups.
To back up Firefox, see Backing up your information.
Hopefully someone more familiar with Fx4 upgrade issues can help as to next steps.
This can be caused by a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
I did some experiments. Found out that Firefox4 also looses the browsing history for the day when it exited. Seems that Firefox4 stores all bookmarks in some temporary buffer instead of updating actual database. If PC crashes or shutdown without closing Firefox 4, all temporary info is gone. It does not even restores previous session/tabs when started again.
I moved back to Firefox 3.6 for now. Just to clarify – when I moved from Firefox3 to Firefox4, I got all my bookmarks. It’s an issue only when using Firefox4 (adding new bookmark in Firefox4).
