hi,

I have 2 PC's, both very similar set up; 1st PC: the one I'm on, is version 4.0.1 2nd PC: version 5.0 Both have gotten to these stages via update through "Check for Updates". Problem is, 1st PC says it is up to date. So I'm little confused and wondering why 1st PC won't update?

If there's any other info needed, please let me know. Thanks!

Firefox 5 is probably a 5.0 b1 (beta) version.

Did you ever install a Firefox 4 beta or release candidate?

It is possible that you are still on the beta channel.
You can check the pref app.update.channel on the about:config page.

If the value of that pref is beta then it is better to download and install the full Firefox 4 release or edit the file \defaults\pref\channel-prefs.js in the Firefox 4 installation folder and change the line to:

pref("app.update.channel", "release");
