I installed a plugin for Firefox called FLV Studio (or FLD can't quite remember) anyway I have uninstalled the plugin but the default homepage in firefox 4.01 has now set its search page to iamwired.net instead of google.

I have clicked the default settings in firefox and while the default homepage is correct it is still sending post data to iamwired.net instead of Google, how the hell do you fix this?

To revert to Google as your preferred search engine, please do the following.

The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.

To reset your home page, do the following.

  • Go to the site you want to set as your homepage.

  • Click the orange Firefox button and go to Options | Options | General.

  • Make sure it says "Show My Homepage" in the first dropdown menu.

  • Click the button called "Use Current Pages" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.

Also, update your Skype installation. The one you have at the moment is problematical in Firefox. See https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/blocklist/ (7th from the top)

Please also remove your old Java Consoles in the Add-ons | Extensions. These pose a security risk and exposes your system to exploits. The current version of Java is 1.6.0_25, download from: http://www.java.com/en/

You're welcome.

Could you please click the "Solved It" button next to the post which solved the problem for you? This will help others searching for a solution to the same question.

With regard to the Java Consoles, you should be able to remove them via Add/Remove Programs.

You're welcome Goxethee.

This is ridiculous. Look at how many steps you have to take just to change the default search engine back to google. This should be in the Firefox options or search engine options.
