I am using Ubuntu 11.04, and the most recent update brought me Firefox 5.0 canonical 1.0 All my bookmarks are gone, but I believe I can recover them. None of my add-ons and toolbars are compatible with this future version of firefox. Didn't 4.0 just come out of Beta? Nobody is talking about this anywhere, yet.

One of the people on the ALE.org list solved the mystery. Ubuntu engineers have made 5.0 available to the "proposed 11.04 repository" for purposes of security patching of Firefox 5.0 on Ubuntu. I had the proposed repository turned on, so that is why I got 5.0 Thank you both for your help.
