When downloading files using the downloads window, quite often downloads seem to stall when they are very nearly complete. This happens in both version 6.0 and version 5.0. I have left the window sitting in this state for up to 20 minutes with no change.

Clicking on the pause button, waiting a few seconds, and then clicking the resume button causes the download to complete almost immediately.

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.

Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

See "Disable virus scanning in Firefox preferences - Windows"
