Make sure that you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode.

  • You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History"
  • To see all History and Cookie settings, choose: Firefox > Preferences > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
  • Deselect: [ ] "Permanent Private Browsing mode"

Thank your for taking the time to reply.

I did as you suggested and the IMPORT option became active;however, when i ask to have the bookmarks etc imported from Safari and the IMPORT WIZARD starts it stalls out when the CANCEL/OK window opens. I click OK but nothing goes fwd from there. I have tired quit/restart/do again....no luck. Got any suggestions?

Try to export the bookmarks in Safari to an HTML file and import that file in Firefox ("Import from file").
