One day the "previous" and "next" arrows disappeared from my inbox. Also, page numbers on the bottom of the screen and the ability to scroll through pages disappeared. I can only click from date to date.

Try to remove the Firefox plist file (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).

Go to "Library > Preferences" and remove the plist file for Firefox (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).

This did not solve the problems. Still no "next" or "previous" and no way to move through my email list except for going back to the inbox each time I want to view a new email. Also, to see new screen of emails I can only search by calendar, not page.

Try moving localstore.rdf from the profile onto the desktop (with Firefox closed), then launch Firefox and see if the buttons are back. If they are, you might as well delete the old localstore file you moved, and you will have to redo any toolbar customizations you did, and resize the windows to the size you like.

Are you describing Firefox or Thunderbird? You mentioned inbox and email lists. The remedy for both would be the same; just substitute "Thunderbird" for "Firefox".
