Hello,

my father uses Verizon Broadband for internet access. After updating to Firefox 8.0, Firefox can no longer access the device for internet connection. I get the standard "Unable to connect" when I start Firefox. IE8 has no issues accessing the internet.

I have no idea how to fix this, except possibly downgrading to an earlier version of Firefox.

Thanks for your expertise!

Reset your firewall permissions for the new version. Your firewall is just doing its job:

  1. close/exit Firefox (Firefox button > Exit or File > Exit)
  2. delete firefox.exe and plugincontainer from the firewall list of allowed programs
  3. re-start Firefox and let your firewall detect the new version
  4. give permissions needed by your firewall to allow Firefox access to the internet.
