Why is the italic font now showing up as a "swash" script font when my font settings haven't changed?

This problem happened sporadically after 8.0.1, and consistently after the 9.0.1 update. I have not changed my font settings in preferences. Have tried viewing the same sites in other browsers (Safari and Chrome) and the pages are displayed properly.

I work on a iMac with a quadcore i7 processor and MacOS 10.6.8

I HAD this problem, until I found this page and the dumb little box that I must have clicked at some point! All fixed now, the problem is the "Allow websites to choose their own fonts box": https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Changing%20fonts%20and%20colors?s=+font+display&r=0&e=es&as=s
