Webpage sometimes displays earlier version during session
The first time in a browsing session I open the BBC news site from the bookmark http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/default.stm it works fine, if I then navigate away from that page to another, but later during the session reopen the BBC site using the same bookmark, it has gone to an earlier version of the page, and requires 3 or 4 manual refreshes of the page to bring it back up to the most recent version. I have to say the BBC sites aren't the only ones to display this behaviour, and it doesn't happen on IE at all.
I have set Firefox to clear the cache and download history when the programme is closed.
The BBC news and Sports sites aren't the only ones where this happens.

try to modify in about:config the Browser.cache.check doc frequency and check it again :
type in the address bar about:config
then press the button i'll be careful i promise
then type in the bar browser.cache.check_doc_frequency
then right-click on it, select modify, type 1 , click OK,
exit firefox and restart-it.
thank you

As suggested, I modified the browser.cache.check_doc_frequency, but problem still occurs. I'll monitor it a bit more and see if it is a problem with the BBC sites in particular.
You can try to clear the disk cache files on your hard drive with Firefox closed.
You can find the location of the browser cache on the about:cache page.
